Cushman & Wakefield’s Sherry Cushman brings national legal findings to Minneapolis

Cushman & Wakefield’s Sherry Cushman and members of the Legal Sector Advisory Group brought together some of the leading minds in the Twin Cities legal community June 12 for a symposium on what issues are facing firms all over the globe.

Sherry, Executive Managing Director of the Legal Sector Advisory Group for Cushman & Wakefield Americas, shared findings from CW’s annual Bright Insight survey, which seeks responses from law firms (large and small, coast to coast) and associates on what issues are facing the legal sector, both in the present and future.

Among the major findings, Sherry told the group, firms identified fixed fee structures as their top concern. Also, firms continue to evolve their real estate for the future, using more hoteling and planning to implement single-size offices within the next decade. Overall, a fifth of all firms say they plan to make dramatic changes to their overall structure within five years.

The study also found that more than a quarter of all firms do not have a succession plan in place, nearly three-quarters say technology and IT security needs are greater than ever, and associates’ top priority is a work/life balance.
