Memorial Blood Centers Renews Bloomington Lease

The MSP Advisory Services Team represented Memorial Blood Centers in the lease renewal of 2,872 square feet at 500 W. 98th Street in  Bloomington, MN.  Premier Banks was the landlord.

Memorial Blood Centers has been saving and sustaining lives for over 60 years.  A Minnesota-based, independent nonprofit, they supply life-saving blood, state-of-the-art laboratory services, and biomedical expertise to area hospital and clinic partners, national blood centers, biotechnology companies, research institutions, and international clients from Australia to Switzerland.

Minnesota AIDS Project Sells Minneapolis Property

The MSP Advisory Services Team represented Minnesota AIDS Project (MAP) in the sale of 1.69 acres of land located at 1400 Park Avenue and 617 14th Street East in Minneapolis. The property included a 24,000 square foot building. Weidner Investment Services, a Washington corporation, was the buyer. Weidner Investment Services has hired Hunt Development to develop a 260-unit market-rate apartment building on the property.

Mike Cassidy, MAP Board Chair, said, “We are very pleased to announce this important transaction, which marks a major step in the transformation process we have undertaken to insure our organization’s long-term success. Under an agreement with Weidner Investment Services, we will be able to stay in our current offices while we are in the process of identifying and securing a new headquarters facility that will be more accessible and allow us to serve our clients more efficiently.”

Founded in 1983 as a statewide nonprofit agency, the Minnesota AIDS Project envisions a Minnesota where new HIV infections are eliminated and individuals living with HIV live long, healthy lives. Their mission is to lead Minnesota’s fight to stop HIV through prevention, advocacy, awareness and services. In partnership with over 1,000 volunteers, they provide compassionate, confidential and non-discriminatory services, including practical, emotional and social support. In 2013, the organization provided services to more than half of the nearly 8,000 Minnesotans living with HIV. The Minnesota AIDS Project’s Risk Reduction staff members reach thousands more throughout the state with HIV prevention education, HIV testing and community outreach to those at the greatest risk for transmission.

Volunteers of America Sells Building

The MSP Advisory Services Team represented Volunteers of America Minnesota and Wisconsin in the sale of The Learning Center located at 614 East Grant Street, Minneapolis. The 7,137 square foot building has an active school tenant and includes offices, classroom space, kitchen and a partial gym. RS EDEN, a Minnesota non-profit, was the Buyer.

Since 1971, RS EDEN has been a leader in delivering effective services to Minnesota and surrounding communities. From early achievements in substance abuse treatment and correctional residential programs, RS EDEN has evolved into a multi-faceted agency that facilitates positive change in the areas of chemical dependency, family services, corrections and affordable housing.

District Energy St. Paul Purchases Building

Represented District Energy St. Paul in the purchase of the 25,662 square foot Jemne Building, 305 St. Peter Street, St. Paul. Wold Jemne Building Limited Liability Partnership was the seller.

District Energy St. Paul is a leader in community energy, providing St. Paul with reliable and sustainable heating and cooling services. To share its best practices beyond St. Paul, District Energy has developed an affiliate partner in Ever-Green Energy, which provides energy planning, design, construction oversight, and overall system development for community and campus energy systems.

Institute for Justice Leases Space at Renaissance Square

Represented Institute for Justice in the lease of 2,461 square feet at Renaissance Square, 520 Nicollet Mall, Minneapolis. Catalyst RS LLC was the landlord. The Institute for Justice is the nation’s only libertarian, civil liberties, public interest law firm. It is a 501(c)(3) organization.

The Institute for Justice arrived in Minnesota in 2005 and has been successful racking up victories in the court of law as well as the court of public opinion. They sought out the help and guidance of the MSP Advisory Services Team this past year due to a desire to relocate within the Minneapolis CBD into a fresh, modern space that better reflected their mission engaging in cutting-edge litigation and advocacy both in the courts of law and in the court of public opinion on behalf of individuals whose most basic rights are denied by the government. Steven Anderson, Managing Vice President for Institute for Justice, stated, “Cushman & Wakefield – Jaclyn and Jeremy in particular – understood the needs of our organization. They are knowledgeable, thorough and easy to work with. No better group around.”

Progress Valley Acquires Building

Represented Progress Valley, Inc. in the purchase of a 23,111 square foot building located at 1100 80th Street East, Bloomington. The seller was Tenez Properties LLC, a Minnesota limited liability company. Progress Valley purchased the office/industrial building to convert to a women’s treatment center and administrative space.

Progress Valley, Inc. is a nonprofit organization providing chemical health treatment services for adult men and women since 1972. They provide integrated, comprehensive and gender specific services offering individuals opportunities for personal change and growth. They believe the process of recovery begins with personal accountability and responsibility to others, and is fostered through the unique and individualized programs we offer.
